Profile Highlights
Corey Black, originally from Odessa, Texas, has merged his love for music with his passion for technology. He earned a Bachelor of Music Education from West Texas A&M University in 2000, and began his teaching career in both West Texas and Northeast Florida.
In 2003, Corey and his wife, Apryl, co-founded Green Light Group Tours, which focuses on providing students with engaging and educational travel experiences. His entrepreneurial spirit continued in 2018 as he co-founded GroupCollect, successfully revolutionizing the group travel industry's registration and payment processes.
Driven by his experiences as an educator and a dad with kids participating in multiple fine arts programs, Corey sought better solutions for educators to run their programs more effectively. This led him to partner with JW Pepper and Conn-Selmer to spin off CutTime as its own company in 2021. Later that year, with the acquisition of MTD Research, CutTime gained access to the most comprehensive and accurate data on school music, theatre, and dance programs. This wealth of information has empowered CutTime to collaborate with educational leaders nationwide, using robust data to advocate for fine arts programs and support funding and advocacy efforts. The acquisition of Charms in 2023 cemented CutTime’s status as the nation’s leading K-12 Fine Arts classroom management platform.
Corey resides in St. Augustine, Florida, with his wife and their two daughters, who are actively involved in their public school’s band, choir, musical theatre, and dance programs.
